Normal fueled instead of super

Regular gasoline instead of Super or Super Plus fueled?

If you have used regular gasoline instead of Super or Super Plus, you can continue driving carefully.
Pay attention to the information provided by your vehicle manufacturer.
Avoid top speed.

Do not strain the engine. On the cleaning (pumping) of the fuel tank can be omitted. Refresh the right kind again as soon as possible.

Differences between super and regular gasoline

Super and Super Plus: the difference is in the octane number! wrong fueled?

  • The difference between the different varieties lies in the so-called octane number. It indicates the knock resistance of the gasoline.
  • The higher the octane number, and thus the knock resistance, the lower the probability of uncontrolled self-ignition in the engine, the so-called knocking.
  • When knocking ignites the gasoline-air mixture too early. Then a knock from the engine compartment can be heard and parts of the engine can be damaged by the uncontrolled pressure.
  • Modern engines have a so-called knock control, which allows optimal operation of the engine operation near the knock limit.

Which types of gasoline are there? Fueled incorrectly?

  • Super, or even Super 95, has an octane rating of 95. This is already significantly higher than normal gasoline.
  • Super Plus has an octane rating of 98, it is knock-resistant than Super. The higher the octane rating, that is, the knock resistance of the gasoline, the more effectively the engine can work: the fuel consumption drops.
  • Regular gasoline is hardly available today.
  • In modern cars, the difference between Super and Super Plus has no significant impact on the fuel economy or engine performance.
  • In addition to the octane number, the ethanol content, ie the proportion of biofuel in the gasoline, is relevant.
  • By 2011, it was five percent ethanol, today you can with E10 gasoline with ten percent ethanol refueling.
  • If your car does not tolerate E10, you should refuel super, as the ethanol content here is still at five percent.
