diesel oil pest

Diesel pollution and old fuel

What does diesel pest mean?

Diesel plague means the appearance of microorganisms such as molds, bacteria or yeasts in conjunction with the visible formation of a biosludge in the diesel fuel.

All types of fuel that we use to operate vehicles are of organic origin, that is, chemical compounds of carbon that have evolved from substances found in living bodies.

What dangers threaten diesel fumes?

These microorganisms or biosludge produced in our fuel tanks can clog fuel lines and fuel filters and damage engine assemblies.

The problems can also arise in gasoline engines with gasoline, with high admixture of biofuel E 10, E 85 or E 100.

Vehicles with a long service life, such as mobile homes, boats or agricultural equipment often get problems with biosludge. In order to avoid damage to your vehicles and engines after a long service life, your fuel tank must be emptied and cleaned.

How can Dieselpest be avoided?

  • When refueling, rainwater must not enter the tank.
  • If the tank has a runoff for runoff water, it should be used from time to time.
  • Pay attention to possible contamination of rarely used canisters.
  • If the vehicle is at a standstill, fill the tank completely to minimize the formation of condensation
  • After a long service life, a sample can be taken from the bottom of the tank to assess the situation. The diesel should be clear and transparent.
  • If a layer settles in the lower part of the sample after a short time, avoid starting the engine, otherwise the sludge will be sucked in and distributed in pipes, filters and pumps.
  • In such cases, it is important to vacuum and clean the tank - call us!
